Your role at Baxter

Working under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for providing leadership to the Fabrication, General Machining, Final Assembly and Facility Maintenance Technicians. You will lead a cross-functional maintenance group to maintain, repair and troubleshoot all equipment and structures safely and economically and will be responsible for managing plant service activities throughout the Skaneateles Falls Manufacturing Campus. In this role you will play a critical leadership role as you will coordinate with Operations Management team to continuously improve production and to increase uptime of components.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage Maintenance departments 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shift including training, employee relations, time and attendance, and performance counseling for approximately 10-15 hourly positions.
  • Manage maintenance activities on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift for the Skaneateles Falls Manufacturing Campus.
  • Managing the plant equipment preventive maintenance program to ensure all PM’s are completed in timely manner and meet all regulated specifications.
  • Ensure quality compliance of corrective work orders and preventative maintenance activities. Effectively reduce equipment downtime by procuring, coordinating, and maintaining spare parts and preventative maintenance program.
  • Manage and monitor preventive maintenance process and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Identify and schedule training needs.
  • Collaborate closely with Suppliers, Accounts Payable and Global Sourcing to resolve MRO purchasing issues. Share responsibility for MRO purchasing activities.
  • Seek competitive and negotiated sources for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Assist in controlling budget of both fixed and variable expenses.
  • Align with all critical initiatives and deployment goals. Communicate effectively with all departments while maintaining a positive environment.
  • Assist with engineering and maintenance of Environmental controls as necessary.
  • Assist in managing Fixed and Variable budget to maintain department policy standards. Propose and implement necessary Maintenance capital projects.
  • Manage departmental performance metrics, including Tier 1 (cell measure boards) and Tier 2 (Gemba boards).
  • Provide leadership to the Gemba teams by conducting daily Gemba meetings, weekly project meetings and 5S audits.
  • Complete objective setting and performance reviews in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the Environmental, Health and Safety framework is understood and followed by all employees. Ensure a Zero Harm work environment.
  • Create accident reports and perform accident investigations. Implement corrective actions.
  • Creates and modifies documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, Office or other software programs.
  • Conduct research, compile data and prepare reports.
  • Supports staff in assigned project-based work and installation initiatives.
  • Provide support for production and product development operations.
  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, delivery, and employee morale to achieve desired results in all areas. Work to continuously improve all areas. Follow lean manufacturing methods (lean daily management, eliminate waste, make problems visible etc.)

What you'll bring

  • Associate degree or 5 years equivalent work experience in a technical related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical related field preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in Facilities/ Maintenance.
  • 3 years’ experience in a manager role.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $88,000 - $121,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
